Up in the Air

We got up before 5 and were taken to the take off point before 6:30. After some instruction we got in, as part of a group of six, and took off. I was terrified at first but settled in. When we climbed to 3,000 feet I wasn't that comfortable, but again got used to it. We flew over villas, vineyards, towns, churches and the monastery where The English Patient was filmed. The landing was memorable as we had too much speed and dragged for quite a ways before tipping onto the side of the basket and coming to a stop. Everyone was on top of me and Kim also got squished. We are now waiting for the "chase crew" to find us and take us back. Apparently a champagne breakfast is part of the experience as well.

Photos later (with a couple on FaceBook already).

  1. Amazing photos! I'm suffering from some serious food envy and now craving the homemade pasta that you will be preparing for us upon your return. :) Kim, don't say I didn't warn you about the balloon landing! Glad to see you're having a wonderful time. Continue that, and I'll be following along closely and vicarously. xox
