Another Adventure in Tuscany

We intended to eat the four course meal we had cooked. Instead we had a mishap that led to three stitches and now are eating the rest of dinner back at the villa!

As Kim was attempting to slice through the veal to insert the olive mixture into the opening with a pastry bag, she ended up cutting her right index finger. The incredibly caring and talented Ian in our class, an ER doctor back in Canada, quickly and calmly bandaged her up but said stitches were required at some point in the next 12 hours. We had some wine and our first course (the stuffed zucchini flowers) and then I thought it was crazy to not go right away even if it meant no pasta, no veal and NO DESSERT!

We went to the nearest hospital in Fratta where nobody spoke a word of English and they were having a busy night. I called the travel insurer to see if I needed any treatment pre-approved and they said no.
It seemed like it was going to be a long night but we were out within a couple of hours and they didn't even charge us for the treatment. So three courses were temporarily replaced by three stitches (which can come out in eight days or when we get a home a little bit after that). It ended up being an inconvenience and a story and we're glad it wasn't worse.

And now we see that instead of our third course (the rogue veal), we have two desserts...
