We had a tour and a wine tasting. I wasn't excited by any of the three wines and far preferred the red from yesterday's cooking class. We then headed up to the terrace for a lunch. The area is a level more "country" like than where we're staying and seems a bit more like Muskoka or the Laurentians in terms of the tall trees.
Lunch: bread sticks and bread with olive oil, Italian meats plate, pasta plate, main course of veal, chicken, sausage, potatoes and vegetables and rose (very nice). Now a dessert wine with a molten chocolate cake with pineapple inside. It's too much even for me!
We're going to skip dinner and either have a snack in the main square of Cortona while watching the World Cup or make a sandwich with fruit in our villa. We also have to pack up for our journey tomorrow to Prague (with our route requiring a connection in Paris). First we're having a tour of a nearby castle.
The dessert wine is a keeper: Barone Ricasoli Granello 2008. (The rose was its Albia 2009.)
