Art and Culture
We are visiting an exhibition of works of art and literature. I can't take photos here but what is so striking is the incredible amount of talent on display here and how it manifested itself in such dire conditions. A quarter of prisoners in Terezin died and the vast majority of those who lived ended up being deported to death camps where almost all died. It is terribly tragic but it is good that these memorials and museums exist. We just visited a memorial and cemetery. During communism the Jewish aspects of suffering during WWII were suppressed but this changed after the Velvet Revolution in 1989. I will post photos of the memorial and cemetery at a later point today. (Note: Most are now included with Kim's later post.)
